Promoting Physical Fitness
Health Week Ends with Field Day

It has become almost traditional at CCHS for the final week of the third quarter to be a time of heightened awareness of the need to be physically sound. Central Catholic promotes the "whole person" concept, and encourages students to make healthy choices about nutrition and exercise. Besides ten varsity sports, CCHS incorporates significant physical exercise into the JROTC program, encourages intramural games, and has a dedicated athletic period at the end of each school day.
The cafeteria focused on healthy food choices even more during this week than usual, and promoted whole grains and low-fat combinations such as turkey sandwiches. Students engaged in a number of luncheon activities that culminated in health metrics such as BMI.
The week ended with a day of physical activities, including soccer, flag football, and--for selected students--the ever-useful "compost duty."
