Swimming Brings Home A Regional Championship
TAPPS State Swim Meet Saturday, February 18!
Congratulations to our Swim Team on their Regional Championship. "The last time the Central Catholic Swim Team won regionals was in 2003. It is wonderful to have brought it back home where it belongs and we can only hope to repeat this next year and for years to come!" said Kevin Gallivan, Swim Coach.
Kevin went on to express how each swimmer in one race or another, had a personal best time. "Everyone on the team contributed to us taking first place at regionals. I witnessed each swimmer cheering on their teammates and this was a testimony to the brotherhood at Central" he said.
According to Kevin, Central Catholic will face some tough competition at State. El Paso Cathedral which has reigned for the last 20+ years as State Champions are motivating our team to work harder at practice and be ready to give it their best. "There are some swimmers you will want to keep an eye on the who are the following Class of 2012 Seniors: Julio Del Rio in the 50 and 100 Freestyle and Andrew Oordt in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly" said Kevin. "One thing I can say" he continued, is "I told the boys right after we received our 1st place regional plaque, winning is not overrated!"
