MET
The Marianist Effectiveness Team
December 03, 2007
Mission:
The Marianist Effectiveness Team is a community of faith, mission-sensitivity and animation that meets regularly to assure that the Characteristics of Marianist Education inform the people and activities of Central Catholic High School.
MET Statement of Heritage:
Marianist brothers, sisters and priests have served at Central Catholic High School since 1852. These men and women have served in the past as an animating community that not only kept the institution focused on mission, but for many years provided the majority of the work at the institution. As consecrated religious life has evolved in the wake of the cultural and religious changes experienced in the Church since 1960, fewer vowed religious have been assigned to the school. The Marianist Effectiveness Team was formed in 1999 to assure that the Marianist characteristics of education continue to develop within the school and the personnel of the school.
MET Mission Objectives:
• The MET facilitates in each team member the growth of prayer life, virtues for mission, and understanding of the Christian call in its Marianist implementation, as envisioned by Blessed Father William Joseph Chaminade.
• The MET facilitates connections to the other Marianist works in the United States of America and elsewhere that promote mutual understanding and the sharing of replicable ideas that support the worldwide Marianist mission.
• The MET undertakes a regular assessment of the understanding and living of the Characteristics of Marianist Education among faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni of the school. This assessment will be accomplished by longitudinal studies conducted in surveys and focus groups.
• The MET will plan and execute in-service education and training in activities that promote the Characteristics of Marianist Education in the school. These may include retreats, faculty/staff meetings and conferences.
• The MET will host and support the annual effectiveness visitations of the Marianist Province of the United States of America.
• The MET will at least annually assess its own effectiveness in its mission objectives and report its findings to the Administration and Board of Directors.
Structure and Accountability
The MET leader is appointed by the Principal after consultation with the school Administrative Council. The MET leader reports directly to the Principal, and sits on the school council with a voice and vote. The leader, who must be a Catholic with at least three-years experience in Marianist schools, may be an administrator or faculty member. Members of the MET are appointed by the principal after consultation with the school Administrative Council. The MET meets at least monthly and reports to the Administrative Council monthly. The MET is assigned an appropriate budget, and the team leader is compensated for relevant duties.
