Valedictorian/Salutatorian
Our Highest Academic Honors
March 29, 2008
Each August, the four or five seniors with the highest cumulative GPA's gather with the principal and senior guidance counselor for a very special conference. Often, mere hundredths of a grade point separate these young men from each other. The principal briefs them on the requirements for attaining the valedictorian and salutatorian medals. Each of these honorees must have either the highest or second-highest GPA in the class, but they must also attain the Marianist Honors Diploma. This means that they must demonstrate, by letter, that they have learned and exhibited the five Characteristics of Marianist Education.
The Valedictorian and Salutatorian honors are announced after the third-quarter grades are posted, with the proviso that both must attain the Marianist Honors Diploma.
