The Culture and Language of Other Worlds

by Pat Cunningham

June 03, 2008

Central Catholic's fastest growing program is foreign language.  Students may choose between an honors Latin sequence, which emphasizes the culture, history and language of Rome, and either a regular or an honors Spanish sequence, which emphasizes the culture and language of the many Spanish-speaking countries.  Latin is an important aid to the study of English, because English is a Latin-derived language in its vocabulary and grammar.  Spanish is formal rather than colloquial, and emphasizes reading and writing of contemporary Castilian forms.

Spanish lead teacher: Ms. Angela Garcia

Latin lead teacher: Mr. John Love
