Student Retreats
December 03, 2007
The CCHS retreat program is an integral part of our fivefold Marianist characteristics, particularly Faith Formation and family spirit.
The retreat program at Central Catholic culminates in the KAIROS retreat for seniors. The KAIROS retreat allows the students to reflect on the relationships they have with themselves, their parents, each other, and God. It is a three and a half day experience during school, involving witness talks, small group sessions, liturgies, a reconciliation service, an affirmation activity, and mediation/quit times, while also allowing for "unscheduled time" and seven hours of sleep a night (for the students, anyway). "KAIROS is the culmination of the students' spirituality experiences at Central Catholic, and thus is a very powerful event."
The junior retreat is a two-day experience. The purpose of the Journey Retreat is to take the retreat attendees through the journey of faith that all believers go through. Each retreat attendee will be at a different place in his faith development, but this program is designed to speak to the retreat attendee no matter the stage he finds himself in. Additionally, this retreat will serve as a transition for students who will attend KAIROS as seniors.
The sophomore and freshmen retreats are one-day experiences that focus on Marianist and Central Catholic community along with specific issues that the students will be faced with as teenagers. It helps them learn how to make the Christian choice when faced with important life issues.
