William J. Bordelon Air Rifle

3-Position Cup Match

The William J. Bordelon Air Rifle 3 Position Tournament will be held 10-12 October, 2008.

Position Air Rifle Cup Match. This is the main event. It is limited to teams and individuals of high school age. The tournament is sanctioned by:

  • USA Shooting to permit scores fired to be recognized as national records.
  • Civilian Marksmanship Program as a CMP Cup Match. Competitors may earn EIC credit points for the Junior Distinguished Badge.

Open International Standing Match. This 40 shot, Sunday-morning event allows teams staying overnight to compete in another match before heading home.

Position Air Rifle Cup Match

Friday and Saturday 10-12 October

     Eligibility:  Any student currently enrolled in the following: middle school, high school or an equivalent educational program such as home schooling. Teams must maintain team integrity. Teams must be made up of individuals from the same school or club. No “pickup” entries allowed.

      Classes: There are two classes for competition and awards – Sporter and Precision.

     Course of Fire: position air rifle 3x20 (National Standard Rules), 20 shots each prone, standing and kneeling fired in this order. The top eight competitors in each class will fire a 10 shot final Saturday evening to determine the medal winners.

     Conduct of Match: The match will be conducted in accordance with the current National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules. All entrants will compete as individuals. Six NC-AR10 targets are hung at the start of a relay. Position will be fired in timed stages (30 minutes for prone, 40 minutes for standing and 30 minutes for kneeling).

     Team Match: There is a four member “paper” team match using scores from the individual competition. Mixed teams will compete in the highest class of any team member. Team score cards must be presented to the Range Officer before any team member fires a record shot.

     Relay Times: Friday: Relay 1 (1:30 to 4:00pm). Relay 2 (4:00 to 6:30pm). Relay 3 (6:30 to 9:00pm).

Saturday: Relay 4 (8:00 to 10:30am). Relay 5 (10:30 to 1:00pm). Relay 6 (1:00 to 3:30pm). Relay 7 (3:30 to 6:00pm). No sporters may fire on Relay 7.

     Finals: The finals for the top eight shooters in the Sporter Class will start at 7:00pm followed by the Precision finals. All competitors are encouraged to attend the finals and the awards ceremonies which follow.

     Awards: Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in the 60 shot individual aggregate plus finals for each class. Trophy plaques will be awarded to the top three teams in each class along with medals for the winning team members and coach. Individuals and all team members must be present at the Awards Ceremony following the finals to receive their awards and to be photographed or they will forfeit their awards.

     Entry Fees: The entry fee is $25 for each individual competitor. There is no additional fee for team entries. Entry fees to be received at Central Catholic HS NLT 19 September.

     Squadding: Team will be assigned relays based on their entry request and availability when their entry request is received.

     Assignment of Firing Lanes: Firing lanes will be assigned by drawing on Thursday before the Tournament. Lane assignments will be posted outside the range.

     Report Time: Teams should arrive at Central Catholic High School one hour before the start of their relay. Shooters should report to the ready line 10 minutes before their relay. They will be called to move onto the firing line at their relay time. There will be a 10 minute preparation period.

      Challenge Period: Targets should be ready for challenge approximately one hour after the end of a relay. The start of the challenge period will be announced in the school’s cafeteria.

Directions to Central Catholic High School: The address to Central Catholic High School is 1403 North St. Mary’s St. 78215. From south bound Interstate 35, exit on McCullough. Turn left on McCullough. Drive straight on McCullough, turn left on North St. Mary’s St. Drive one block and Central Catholic High School is on your left.

Compress Air: Compress air will be on site. Competitors must bring their own adapter. Competitors must bring their own CO2 gas with fittings.

Open International Standing Match

     Eligibility:  Any student currently enrolled in the following: middle school, high school or an equivalent educational program such as home schooling. Teams must maintain team integrity. Teams must be made up of individuals from the same school or club. No “pickup” entries allowed. Entry is limited to 40 competitors.

     Classes: There are two classes – Sporter and Precision.

     Course of Fire: Forty shots standing air rifle (National Standard Rules) fired in two stages.

     Conduct of Match: All entrants will compete as individuals (no coaching). Two NC-AR10 targets will be mounted with 40 minutes to fire 20 record shots. Targets will be exchanged and shooters will have 40 minutes to fire their second 20 shots for record.

     Team Match: There is a four member “paper” team match using scores from the individual competition; mixed teams (precision/sporter) will compete in the Precision Category. Team score cards must be turned in to the Range Officer before any team member fires a record,

     Relay Times: Relay 1 (8:00 to 9:45am) and Relay 2 (9:45 to 11:30am).

     Entry Fees: The entry fee is $10 for each individual competitor. There is no additional fee for the four-member team event. The team event is a “paper match.” Entry fees to be received at Central Catholic HS NLT 19 September.
