Student Activities: Section R

SpiRit Club

aka "Section R"

December 03, 2007

The CCHS SpiRit Club, formerly known as the Student Booster Club, and informally as "Section R," has its "roots" in the distant past.  Central Catholic fans are notorious for their enthusiastic support of our athletic teams.  The SpiRit Club gives students an informal organization to encourage that support, and to assure the teams of student backing.

At all athletic contests, members of the SpiRit Club show up and stand for the entire game (except when there is an injury), cheering on their team.

Adhering to the statement of collegiality signed by all local Catholic high schools, the SpiRit Club members are careful to avoid any derogatory chants or other communications about opposing teams.  They wear distinctive garb, usually with a prominent "R" on the front, and sit together in a semi-reserved section of the grandstands.  They frequently declare special garb nights, which have included Hawaiian themes.

The Central Catholic High School Section R goals are

·         to provide representation of the student body at all interscholastic athletic events.

·         to promote school spirit and pride among the students and the CCHS community.

·         to plan and to coordinate activities to support CCHS athletic events.

And to represent Central Catholic High School in a manner befitting the Marianist characteristics of education.
