Is Central Catholic High School canceling classes?
Following the direction from the Archbishop of San Antonio and Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Central Catholic will be taking precautionary measures to limit spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Per the Executive Order from Governor Abbott on March 31, 2020, all schools across Texas (including Central Catholic) will be closed until at least May 4. Online learning will continue as planned.
 
Is the entire campus closed to the public?
At the moment, only faculty & staff are permitted on campus to conduct training and perform essential functions. If you need to come to campus, please call the front office at 210.225.6794 to make an appointment. Please help us limit the number of persons on campus as we keep our Central Catholic clean and sanitary.
 
When will classes resume on campus?
This is a fluid situation and the timeframes could change based on direction from various authorities and the Archdiocese. At the moment, and per the latest Executive Order from Governor Greg Abbott, Central Catholic classes will be closed to in-person class instruction until May 4, 2020. In addition, CCHS will be following the direction from the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for further direction. 
 
Will class assignments still be due and/or assigned?
As of March 23, 2020, all CCHS courses have transitioned to online learning. Please email your teacher for specific questions and reference the Distance Education Parent & Student Guide.
 
What if my son does not have a computer or tablet at home to continue online instruction?
Central Catholic will have Google Chromebooks available for those students that need one. Please fill out the online form at this link https://bit.ly/3b21d2S to request a device. You will be contacted with the next steps after you submit the form.

Are there any tips to share with my son to prepare him for online learning?

What adjustments is the school making to clean frequently touched/accessed areas of campus?
Central Catholic is closely monitoring and following the guidance from the CDC, Occupational Health & Safety Administration and other authoritative bodies. Our facilities team has upgraded the disinfectant used on campus. CCHS now uses special disinfectants with a thirty-second kill time for all touchpoints in Academic & Athletic facilities. Below are the primary touchpoints that staff has been instructed to focus on:

  • Restrooms walls

My son still has books and items on campus. Will he be allowed to return to campus and pick up his items?
On Thursday and Friday, our Athletic department will be coordinating a drive-through pick up of these items. In order to get everyone through as efficiently as possible, they will not be able to pick up any other items on campus. Parents and students will need to remain in their cars during the pickup. Please enter the campus on the Camden St. gate and then proceed along The Khalig-Cowie Convocation Center, just like morning drop-off. Coaches will provide directions from there. If your son has all the materials he needs for assignments in his possession, then there is no need to travel for Book Distribution. If your son is missing certain resources that are listed because they are still in his locker, please make sure to follow the assigned Book DIstribution Schedule posted above. 
 
What if I am not receiving Aeries Communication Messages via phone, SMS, or email?
Please go into your Aeries Web Portal settings and verify your that phone number, email, and other contact information are correct and that you have opted-in to receive all communications. If you are still having trouble, please send an email to aeries@cchs-satx.org. 
 
How does this decision impact Faculty & Staff?
All faculty and staff will be on campus as needed to help prepare for remote online instruction in an effort to continue provided a quality integral education for your son(s). Faculty and staff should plan to report to campus as usual during this period. We also recognize that some faculty or staff members may have medical vulnerability or childcare issues to consider moving forward, and we will work through those with you.
 
Is Central Catholic identifying persons and enforcing the guidelines of those that may have traveled to at-risk areas?
Please review the statement from Principal Walswick from March 6, 2020, on how we are handling this situation in accordance with CDC guidelines. 
 
Is the Business Office still accepting payments for Tuition and Other Fees?
Yes. Most payments for tuition are available online via their son's student account on FACTS.

What if my family is impacted financially as a result of the Coronavirus situation and closures?

Is the school canceling all extra-curricular activities to include JROTC, Athletics, & Student Organizations? 
As the campus is closed for precautionary measures to all in-person instruction, all student activities are canceled or postponed.

Will there still be a Baccalaureate and Commencement Program for the Class of 2020?
At this time, all graduation activities are still on track to take place in late May. As the situation around COVID-19 changes, we are prepared to take any necessary steps to maintain public health and safety standards.
 
My son still has service hours to complete, how does he turn those in or complete if opportunities are limited now?
