Students have the opportunity to enroll in one of two Physical Education options including: Athletic Physical Education and Physical Education. Both classes emphasize the importance in a healthy lifestyle whether it entails Exercise or a sport.
The Athletic Physical Education course designed to allow varsity team practice in the off-season. This course emphasizes education in physical conditioning, health and nutrition, preparatory to participation in team or individual competitive sports. Approval of the coaching staff is required. Athletes whose schedules do not permit participation during the school day for credit will achieve their conditioning in after-school hours.
The Physical Education course includes discussions on the following, but are not limited to, topics: light weight lifting, speed training, endurance training, flexibility, an introduction to lifetime sports, recreational activities and nutrition education. Physical Education is for any student that wants to build and tone their body. Students will gain knowledge of and competency in motor skills, movement patterns, and strategies that will enable them to work towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle and healthy body.
