Sophomore Divisional Service Hours: Lumos - 25hr
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
The theme of the sophomore campus ministry experience, Lumos, is centered on being the light of the world by sharing our gifts with others. Through the use of light, the darkness of our world is able to be driven out. Building upon the gifts discovered through the Pillars of their freshman year, students are called to share their gifts to help improve a community. To be light for another one must reflect on what gifts they bring to a community. The gift of music can be shared in a parish choir or at a retirement community. The gift of conversation can be used at the local soup kitchen. All members of the Central Catholic community have gifts to share with our one human family, use this sophomore year as a chance to be Christ for another. When considering an act of service during the sophomore year reflect on the power of the Holy Spirit and how you can use your gifts and be light for those in our community.
A Reflection for Sophomore Service Discernment
Shine brightly, Holy Light; shine brightly in my life. Let your light in my light burst forth, warming my heart and the hearts of all I meet. Let every breath be praise and every word be love.
May the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.
