Department Overview

Within the Department of Social Studies, our approach to learning is to deemphasize the rote memorization of who and when, while at the same time developing an understanding of the how and why of historical and current events.
Throughout the range of courses, we strive to maintain focus on our Catholic identity and how it fits into our areas of study.
The goal of the department is to build expertise in our students that allows them to excel in a broad range of Advanced Placement and other advanced courses. We also look to model how faith can have a foundational impact on both personal development and positive communal interaction. Our ultimate goal is to send students to college well prepared for the challenges and rigor in their chosen field of endeavor.
