Snake Bytes Take on the R20 League

Central Catholic’s eSports Program, “The Snake Bytes” participated in the R20 League this past Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Tech Port Center + Arena in Port San Antonio, accompanied by Sra. Mendez and Dr. Ballesteros, along with family and friends. “The Snake Bytes” competed with eSports Programs from other local high schools, such as Roosevelt, Cole, Jefferson, South San, Steele, and McCollum.
 
Led by Aiden Gutierrez, the Rocket League Team, consisting of Jordan Winfrey, Ethan Winfrey, Magnus Zuniga, and Albert Alvarado went 4-1-0.
 
The Valorant Team, composed of Nathan Talamantez, Rudy Davila, Miles Procknow, Jack Brysch, Diego Posadas, and Daniel Carmona, won all three rounds they competed in, going 13-0 in all rounds. As of 12/3/2022, the team is ranked #4 out of the 16 teams in the league.
 
The Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Team consisted of Isaac Pohl, Kolby Cruz, Luke Martinez, and Mariano Aguilar. Isaac was in the Top Sixteen bracket but was eliminated after going 2-2. However, he is staying within the Top 16 for the next tournament and has a chance to qualify for the finals in April. The next in-person competition for the three teams will be in early January.
