Commander Collins: A Space Odyssey!

On Tuesday, February 28th the Central Catholic community was honored to have Mrs. Eileen Collins present to over forty of our students.  Mrs. Collins is a former test pilot, Colonel in the United States Air Force, and the first woman space shuttle commander!  Mrs. Collins narrated a video of one of her missions to the MIR space station and spoke to the students about the future of space flight.  In addition, Commander Collins talked about the jobs that NASA will need to fill in the future and the qualifications to become an astronaut. Following the presentation Mrs. Collins asked students astronomy questions and handed out Milky Way candy bars for correct responses!  Thank you to all in attendance, especially Mr. Bendele for taking great photos!  This proved to be a wonderful experience for all involved.  Go Buttons!
