Central Catholic High School Names Walter Rule as New Head Soccer Coach

Central Catholic High School (CCHS) is pleased to welcome Walter Rule as the new head coach of our prestigious varsity soccer program. Coach Rule brings extensive experience coaching some of San Antonio’s elite soccer programs, and has earned a long list of awards and achievements including induction into the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Organization (TASCO) Hall of Fame in 2014. Central Catholic is thrilled to have Coach Rule bring his knowledge and expertise to the varsity soccer program and the CCHS community.


“Central Catholic High School is overjoyed to have the caliber of someone such as Walter Rule join our soccer program,” said Executive Athletic Director, Edward Ybarra. “We are confident in the knowledge he will bring to the team and the greatness he will inspire in the young men under his wing.” 


Coach Rule has compiled an impressive record of 491-163-90. His coaching career began 31 years ago and he has coached award-winning teams at MacArthur, Reagan, Clark, and Antonian High School.

 

He guided Reagan to a Soccer State Championship in 2002. He has been named Student Sports National Coach of the Year in 2002, and a three-time finalist for National Coach of the Year with the United Soccer Coaches Association and National Federation of High School Coaches. Rule also was named San Antonio Express-News Boys Soccer Coach of the Year three times (2002, 2004, 2015). In 2014, he was inducted into the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Hall of Honor.

 

Coach Rule is excited to start his new role at Central Catholic High School and is looking forward to guiding the Men’s Soccer Program this Fall. His love of building first-class programs and forming relationships with athletes, parents, and the school community will be a continuation of success for Central Catholic’s storied soccer program
