Congratulations to coach Danny Heep and Matthew Flores as the varsity baseball team ended their season in championship fashion by defeating Concordia Lutheran 3-2 in the TAPPS 6A State Championship.
Not only did they capture the state title that eluded them for 40 years, but they defeated two top-ranked teams, Houston St. Pius X and Tomball Concordia Lutheran, which pushed them to the #1 ranking in TAPPS Large Private School Polls.
The Buttons finished third in their district behind Concordia and St. Pius X. Ironically, only to face them again and defeat both schools in the State Playoffs. Garrett Ticer, Sunhoon Kim, Sam Garcia, and Tim Segura made the all-tournament team.
