Benjamin Zacho '21 Named National Merit Finalist

Today NMSC mailed Certificates of Merit to principals across the country, notifying them of the students who have advanced to Finalist standing in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Letters will be mailed to Finalists’ homes on February 8.. Over 15,000 of the 16,000 Semifinalists named in September 2020 have met all requirements to advance to Finalist standing in the competition. All Finalists will be considered for National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2021.

Parker Stepan '21 Receives Prestigious 2020 Caruthers Award

Dallas Safari Club is pleased to announce Parker Lee Stepan of San Antonio, Texas, and Shae Greidanus of Visalia, California, as the recipients of the Colin Caruthers Young Hunter Award. This award honors young hunters who have met a very strict set of criteria for hunting and academic achievement, as well as community service and leadership.

Trevino named to Express-News All-Area Private School Cross Country Team!

Congratulations to Central Catholic junior, Nathaniel Trevino, for being named to The Express-News All-Area Private School Cross Country Team. Nathaniel is a member of the Central Catholic Cross Country Team. In November, the Cross Country Team competed at the TAPPS Cross Country State Meet in Waco placing 3rd as a Team and Trevino securing the 2nd overall.

Wild Game Dinner Committee helps feed over 450 families!

Since this shift to a virtual event, the Wild Game Dinner Committee made a unanimous choice to donate all remaining processed wild game meat to the San Antonio Food Bank. On Thursday, October 22, Wild Game Dinner Committee members helped to load all the meat onto a SAFB truck to be weighed and distributed to needy families in the area.

The total donation is a record for venison donated to the local food bank.

The WGD Auction is live until Saturday October 24 @ 9 pm.

Dr. Robert McCoy '70 "Shakes Up" CCHS Students

Mr. Bendele's Science Speaker Series welcomed Dr. Robert McCoy '71 back to Central Catholic via teleconference with over 40 CCHS Students in attendance.
Dr. McCoy is the head of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Fairbanks, Alaska. This institute is one of the leading research centers on volcanoes. (Alaska has 56 active volcanoes!) The institute is also one of the leading research centers on earthquakes. (Alaska has more than 50,000 earthquakes annually!)
