Wild Game Dinner Committee helps feed over 450 families!

Since this shift to a virtual event, the Wild Game Dinner Committee made a unanimous choice to donate all remaining processed wild game meat to the San Antonio Food Bank. On Thursday, October 22, Wild Game Dinner Committee members helped to load all the meat onto a SAFB truck to be weighed and distributed to needy families in the area.

The total donation is a record for venison donated to the local food bank.

The WGD Auction is live until Saturday October 24 @ 9 pm.

Ian Doran and Francisco Garcia named as Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program

Congratulations to seniors Ian Doran and Francisco Garcia for each being named a Commended Student in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. This places them in the top 3% of all students who took the 2019 PSAT/NMSQT. This is an amazing accomplishment and a tribute to their dedication to scholarship. Dr. Robert McCoy '70 "Shakes Up" CCHS Students

Mr. Bendele's Science Speaker Series welcomed Dr. Robert McCoy '71 back to Central Catholic via teleconference with over 40 CCHS Students in attendance.
Dr. McCoy is the head of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Fairbanks, Alaska. This institute is one of the leading research centers on volcanoes. (Alaska has 56 active volcanoes!) The institute is also one of the leading research centers on earthquakes. (Alaska has more than 50,000 earthquakes annually!)

Benjamin Zacho '21 Named National Merit Semifinalist

Congratulations to senior Benjamin Zacho for being named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program! Ben ranks in the top 1% of graduating seniors in the nation who took the 2019 PSAT/NMSQT last fall. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and scholarship that is open to all U.S. high school students who meet published entry requirements. We wish Ben the best of luck as he moves onto the next round of the competition. Congratulations Ben!

Central Catholic President Receives Rotarian of the Year Award

Paul Garro has been selected as the 2019-2020 Rotarian of the Year from our local International Rotary Club (Downtown San Antonio Chapter), which boasts being the second largest Rotary Club in the world with approximately 400 prominent servant-leaders. This award is the highest honor the Club bestows on a member each year.

Central Catholic High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Glenn Revell as our new Strength & Conditioning Coach. Glenn comes to Central Catholic with a wealth of experience as a coach dating back to 2009 at places like the University of South Florida, Angelo State University, West Virginia State University.

Alumni Association Installs New Officers & Members

The CCHS Alumni Association has installed a new group of Officers and At-Large Board Members as of July 1, 2020.
The new President, serving a two-year term, is Charlie Gomez '84. His term as President will expire in 2022. Charlie is a long-time volunteer and former coach for Central Catholic. Currently, Charlie serves as Vice President, Specialty Markets, for Ricos Products Co.—a Central Catholic family-owned business.
